Whey protein is a milk-based protein, made from the byproduct of cheesemaking. It is the water-soluble part of milk. Whey protein is a high quality protein rich in the essential, and branched chain amino acids needed for muscle building. Whey protein has been shown to increase muscle protein synthesis, increase lean body mass when taken with a resistance exercise program.
Whey protein comes in several different forms such as whey concentrate, whey isolate and whey hydrolysate. A blended protein means that it may contain a combination of several different “blends” or types of whey protein, for example you can have a percentage of whey concentrate and isolate.
